You'll mix with the friendly locals at the daily fresh fruit market, where you can sample some delicious fresh produce and try your hand at whipping up some Italian dishes.
Testaccio will allow you to experience local Rome, yet still have the choice of walking to all historic monuments (Circo Massimo, Colosseo, Terme di Caracalla, Bocca della Verita' and Pantheon) or alternatively the metro is ten minutes on foot and in ten minutes you can be right at the Spanish Steps.
